If a drop in can be had for $1600 its a big savings for many people. And its easy to install, not everyone is willing to to a T-4 for one reason or another. The market for a turbo in the $1400 - $1600 range will be much greater than a market for $2200+. The 38R somewhat proves this. We all know its not the BEST turbo. Obviously a T4 setup is better but a ton of people still go the 38R route due to price and simplicity. And we all know many people buy on impulse without research. The KC38R seems to be doing well.
