Not exactly the same, but I had a 93 dodge, cummins, ex cab long bed drw. Had the same hop. Also came with the notorious rotted out frame. Didnt matter what gear it was in, around 40-50 mph it had the hop. Most noticeable when coasting. I replaced the rear tranny mounts, they where shot, slight improvement, replaced the driveshaft carrier bearing slight improvement, replaced the rear u joints, slight improvement, and finally the killer was rebuilding the rear end. The pinion bearing was a little loose. I never had that driveshaft balanced. But if you are saying brand new trucks off the lot are doing it, I am at a loss because all those parts should be good. I would be interested to see if you put 500 pounds of weight in the bed if it didnt clear up. They may have the pinion angle optimized for loaded down (since the axle inevitably does turn as you load a leaf suspension) and when running around empty, its just a little out of perfect. I would be interested in seeing what spring packages did it or didnt do it. I bet the trucks that sit higher in the rear are more likely to have it then the ones that sit lower. Just my .02
