6.0 Specialty Tools

Thought it would be a good idea to start a thread with part numbers for all the specialty tools that are good for working on 6.0 Powerstrokes like ipr sockets, hp oil testing kits, compression tester adapters, etc... I will make it a sticky once we get a good list going and then can do the same for the other engines.


So post up the tool, the part number, where you can find it, and a price.


One that saved my butt was 303-1170. It's available from Freedom Racing for about $210. It allows you to remove rocker arms without having to remove the heads or anything.

- T40 Socket for Injector Hold Downs S6340E - $32 from Snap-On
- Head Bolt Adaptor (for getting the head bolts on the passenger side in the back) SRD35 - $63 from Snap-On
- 10mm Turbo Wrench PSWT10K - $30 from Snap-On
- mini ratchet and t30 torx bit to get the rear 2 lower high pressure oil rail bolts out on the passenger side

Just started tearing into my 6.0 a few weeks ago. If there is one thing i hate is not having the right tool for the job. So i talked to my Snap-On guy and bought what i think is the list of tools he carries for 6.0s. Heres a list of Tools I have bought so far:

- 14mm Semi Deep Socket (removing Torque Converter Nuts) - $15 from Snap-On

What about the nipple cup tool. I don't know who makes it.

You'll need a mini ratchet and t30 torx bit to get the rear 2 lower high pressure oil rail bolts out on the passenger side.
