I'm in the process of building a 6.7 mainly for towing with my F450 but kinda concerned with these stock wimpy looking rods. But I'm also not looking to build a race engine and hoping not to have to fork out $3500 plus for billet rods. Like most guys I am planning on some tuning and a better turbo but one fit for towing. But power is power and we all like power right??? So from what I find some are offering 6.0 rods that have been modified to run in the 6.7. Has anyone gone this route??? Also looking at the specs it's kinda confusing to see how they are going about this. I've read where part of it is they have to offset grind the crankshaft, so with that I would have thought the 6.0 rod had a bit smaller rod journal but that's not the case. As a matter of fact the 6.0 rod journal appears to be a bit larger than that of the 6.7. So with these fractured cap PM rods that rules out re-sizing the big end of the 6.0 rods bringing down to fit the 6.7 rod journal. So with that being said I'm concerned they are using some special rod bearings to make up the difference. And if that's the case then why the need to re-size the rod journals on the crankshaft??? Unless the information I found on these internal engine details I have to say I am a bit confused. Anyone cares to share their thoughts???
