Hey guys,

I have been using atf in my power steering system for the last few years with no issues. I just had to replace one section of hose, and lost most of the fluid in my resevoir. I refilled it with fresh fluid and had just enough to reach the cold full line on the dipstick. I ran out of daylight today so I'll bleed the system tomorrow morning.

My question is; if I have to top it off, can I mix the two different types of ATF shown in the pictures? The small bottle of Mercon V is what is currently in the system, the larger jug on the right is the "multi purpose" atf. The bottles show different part numbers. Can they be safely mixed? Or do I need to go get another bottle of the Mercon V?

Thanks!

You’re fine, dex3 is the same as merc5. And typically the multi use has both in it. And actually using even lv in it would be fine, it’s not until you get into the newer weird trans fluids where I would t do it. Ulv and stuff like that is very thin…
