So I took the lariat to ford to fix the MC on the lariat and they said that they found ATF in the brake system and that i'll cost $4000 to fix/replace. They said the want to replace everything whole hydroboost system MC,booster calipers lines etc does that sound right? I asked them if they could do just a flush and just replace the MC but they said no. Could I take and let my local diesel shop flush and replace just the MC? I know I ain't going to pay $4000 LOL. What you guys think? Thanks in advance.

I would say flush it but my concern is what the ATF does to the seals and stuff in the brake system, idk how seals would react to the ATF, make them brittle or what not.

Hydro-boost brakes are part of the diesel engine pkg, nothing new. I think all 6.4's are Job 3 trucks. Diesel's don't make vacuum like a gasser. That is why we have hydraulic system.

ATF is the brake system? Have you seen who works at your local Ford dealer? A bunch of dumb sh!ts...

What happened that caused you to take your truck to get the MC replaced?

If ATF is in the master cylinder, I can see their reason for replacing the hydro boost. That's the only place it could come from.

If ATF gets through the brake system it will destroy seals throughout the brake system. If you just replace the master and flush it you will have a MAJOR brake failure in a little while. This is going to be expensive, and there is no way around that. Sorry.

My question is how did that happen in the first place? Also yes, if there is actually ATF in the system it will destroy every rubber seal. Id find a truck at a junkyard and pull everything you need.

They said a seal started to leak and the let the ATF in the brake system. Is this possible?

huh? there are three job lots of 6.4s for starters. and yes they do have hydraulic brakes however; it is possible to have vacuum brakes on a diesel as the new trucks are like that.

Maybe he's saying ATF and means power steering fluid(same stuff). If that's the case the only way in to the brake system is through the mc some way

Got it fixed on Friday flushed replaced MC then flushed again. If I ever need to replace the Hydro booster lines etc ill do it when that time comes around. Other than that the brakes work excellent now.
