I feel like the truck is excessively “blowing off” when shifting into OD. Just normal driving it’s a “shooschhh”. If I’m getting on it then it’s a WAY stronger “shooschhh” or even a “chchchch hooschhh”

Couple things I’ve noticed:

1. After the truck is started after it has been sitting for an hour or so, at idle about 5-10 seconds after starting I hear a “thump” or a “clunk” from under hood.

2. I installed the riff raff OCR to get rid of the overboost code I was getting. The code still pops up and I know it’s installed correctly.

I’m thinking about replacing the wastegate control valve or the actuator. Am I on the right path or should I look somewhere else?

I've got same issue. I tracked the "clunk" to the air intake/air filter which is a cold air intake. It's like something just opened up.

What you're hearing is most likely turbo surge.

The "thump" is most likely the blend for the HVAC system. It is located in the firewall, right behind the passenger wheel. Totally normal for that to act like that.

Your wastegate is not causing your over boost code. Unless you have it tightened up so it doesn't open.

Is the turbo surge normal only in OD under heavy load?
