Let me start off by saying this is a friends truck that ive been driving out to work on every weekend. lets say the ride is getting OLD.

96 CCLB OBS
intercooled
electric fuel 65PSI
260K
new CPS
30k on RDS stage 2s
From texas and drove it back flawlessly
PO replaced with new Bosch HPOP

It all started with him saying it would be lumpy getting off the highway. I said change your oil and see how it is. Truck started to develop blue smoke and a stutter, and eventually died on the highway, ending up in a restart and brought it back home.

Im diagnosing this truck via text so its kinda hard with someone whos not very mechanically inclined. So I say try the IPR orings before we start throwing money into it for a cheap test. Same issues, long crank before start up and would be skippy now. before it was inermitent LONG crank no starts. Truck was driven to the place where I would work on it, about a 15 minute ride.

I finally take a ride out there prepared to do harnesses and injector orings after more diagnosing via text(blue smoke, skip, low power). I get there and its skippy so I say it sounds like a bad harness, I find out it has a SMOKED driver side rear harness and say that was the source of the skip, a dead injector. I toss it all back together and it was NOT the issue, LONNNNGGGG cranks and it would start, loose ICP and start to injector knock (almost like a loading up) and shut off. It will continuously do this.

So I do the injector orings with ZERO change in its attitude. and the batteries are so stone dead its not even funny any more. The truck seams to loose all HPO but the res stays full and is not bubbling. Dummy oil gauge registers. There are no codes on this thing besides extended cranks.

only thing I could think of that will effect HPO is the Ipr which is re-oringed. (I did not inspect)

will the needle seat of the IPR suddenly fail?

Sorry for the long post but im trying to get all information I can to you guys

thanks!

Can you monitor ICP during cranking? IPR can get some crap in it, but can be taken apart and cleaned. LINK No Codes?

Any oil in the fuel?

I agree, you need to get an AE or something plugged into it to monitor the ICP on startup and when it is knocking.

Sounds like the IPR could be bad. Did your buddy take it apart and not get it back together correctly? It can be taken apart to be cleaned, but it has small parts that are easy to lose or install incorrectly.

I had him do the ipr orings, I offered some
Advice as he did the procedure. The truck started and ran to where it was parked. Hasn't started since. He had some pressures pulled up and it had some astronomically high numbers at cranking, like 3000psi but that didn't make sense. The oil is very clean, no signs of fuel

OHHH!!! Just thought of something. When I
Pulled the first rear driver side injector, the thing SHOT out of the head from
Fuel pressure. NEVER seen that happen
