anyone know about how long it takes to put a clutch and flywheel in a 97 4x4? and are any special tools required other than the alignment tool?
never done one on a 4x4 pick-up before.

A tranny jack is helpful, especially if the transfer case is still connected. One thing I did was to cut the heads off a couple of the old flywheel-to-crank bolts. I then installed those on the crank so that I could "hang the new flywheel on them (it's hard to hold the flywheel up with one hand and install the first bolt with the other). Once I had a couple of the new bolts in, I removed the studs. Cheers!

I had about 2 hours in when i swapped mine. I didn't have carpet in the truck at the time so i used a engine hoist and went through the access panel in the cab. It was a lot easyer than fighting a jack under the truck.

i'm gonna be on a lift with a trans jack built onto the lift... if that makes sense. I'm thinkin that i'm just going to move the tranny back far enough to work in there and not take it all the way out.
