So I've had a few super duties, but before I bought the truck I have now.... I wanted a lifted dually. They just look sick. I don't haul super heavy stuff. My Toyota Crawler and that's it or maybe a boat in the future. My question is..... do I just slap a set of dually wheels on it with a bed and call it a day or is there more I'm missing????? Am I making this harder than it is????

Well I already have a 6 inch skyjacker on it. I planned on black powdercoated stockers with 35s. A lifted f350 dually that high isn't made for towing anything anymore so I figured leave my suspension and rock a dually setup. I do want to add some Firestone airbags though

I guess what I'm trying to say is what's the difference between a f350 dually with 6 inches of lift and a f250 with 6inches of lift turned into a dually? Or something like that

The axle is more narrow than a single wheel. It's pretty easy to do tho. I was going to on my 08.

You will need axle with matching gears as front
Dually flares
Gas tank fill tube
Wheels for front and rear

I'm almost positive the brake lines and blocks and shocks mount to same place on axle.

You need the rear end, wheels and box. IIRC the springs are the same. Not sure of the driveshaft is different but thats easy fix.

And yes the difference is 4 vs 2 LOL

IIRC the bed is the same, just the fenders for the bed. You will also need the spacers to bolt to the front axle to set the wheel out further. The filler neck should be the same because it is in the same place on both trucks. Susp. is the same on both. The wheel studs are fine thread on a 350 and course on a 250. So you will have to find course nuts for the front hub to bolt to yor hub assembly.

Since the dually axle is wider than the SRW axle - there are companies that make spacers specifically for converting a SRW into a dually without an axle swap. This is probably acceptable considering this statement:

BTW - towing with lifted dually trucks is not an issue if you set it up to do so.

I don't think its wider. I think its just the offset of the wheels. I've never heard that Lugs are dif. I've used one of my buddies before and it worked fine.

I KNOW they are wider. The SRW axle is the narrowest - the cab and chassis dually axle is about 2 inches wider than that, and the pickup dually axle is the widest. They need to be wider so all 6 rims can be the same offset from the factory.

Personally I like the SRW rims on the front with DRW rims on the rear so you don't necessarily need front rims or dually spacers.

I have seen a few trucks that convert the front from a dually to a single style. I personally like the loos a lot better. There is a thread, I can't find it, that he had super singles in the rear.
