Well we got our first snow of the year on Saturday, and my son called and woke me up at 9:00am complaining that he got my 2wd Ranger stuck in the ditch. I told him I'd go pull him out with the F250, but when I went to the barn to get the chains and shovel, hell's bells, I got stuck too. Had to winch myself out against the tractor. I guess it's time for some new tires. I got a quote from one shop for some Toyo Open Countrys, and another quote from a different shop for some Cooper Discoverer STT Pros. I'm leaning towards the Coopers, just because I've had Coopers on other vehicles in the past and liked them, but I don't know anything about these Toyos. I've heard good things about them, just have no personal experience with Toyo. I need something that will handle good in the snow. I don't go off-roading, but I do live in the sticks and drive around on my property. Most of the time when I get stuck, or when I have to pull someone else out, it is on my own property. The public works guys do a pretty good job keeping the roads clear. So, all that being said, which is the better tire, Toyo Open Country or Cooper Discoverer STT Pro? The price difference isn't much, but I like the Cooper brand. Some guys seem to go ape-crazy over Toyo, is there a reason for it?
