I had to take oil cooler off to replace the o-rings . I have a pretty nasty film of oil in the bottle. Well I wanted to clean it out so I could read where the level is. I got it at work with me and I've ran hot water and purple power degreaser through it. It kinda worked so I used some cascade dish washer soap. Didn't do much either. What are you guys using to cut the oil film from the bottle?

thanks, kyle

I have one on my race truck (smaller that 99-2003) and tried a few option like you stated. Here is a picture of the best I could do and I was able to see the coolant level without much of a problem during the day.

I ended up getting a new one. It was about $75 at the dealer with a discount. So now I feel much better looking at the OEM transparency.

I may just have to get a new one eventually. I kinda got it to where I can see coolant level. I dont think it was from the quantity of oil in the bottle, it was just how long it was in there baking itself to the plastic. The previous owner i guess didnt care . Oh well, no biggy. Thanks for your reply

Another vote for just replacing it. Mine actually cracked once the visibility got really bad. I think I paid around $80 for one from the dealer.
