Diesel Speed & Marine Hey Space Heretic? Here's my 2 Cents worth of diesel treatment review: I'm from French Canada. Diesels are every-where there. I emigrated "Legally" in the 80's for University, Illinois @ Chicago. COLDER there than where I'm from. Worked in Boston Taxxachussets before being gloriously transferred down to what I thought was the land of the sweatin' Cacti. I apologise, I wasn't bourn here in Texas but I go here as fast as I could. I love Diesels....wish America Had more Run-O-tha-Mill regular diesel cars than just the big rigs & trucks. I also Love VW Westfalia Campers and the conversions of the Air-cooled beasty's to Diesels. For the past 10 years, Diesel Speed & Marine has done work on my BMW's: I've got the original one from when I graduated H/S and took 2 years to save for it buying it in 1980, to the ones I bought in 1985, 1990, 1995 (Step-Son Totalled that beauty) and my present one a 2000 Station Wagon. DS&M did the (what I thought) aggressive change over from an Automatic to a 5 Speed Manual conversion on my 2000 Wagon after the reverse Hub ring-land broke (An apparent known defect according to DS&M Techs that BMW quietly modified & changed in 2005 models & onward). Why the change to a 5 Speed Manual?? Because the freaking re-build on a BMW Transmission was looking to be around $6500.00USD. DS&M suggested the change over & showed me that the "Fixin's" were already in place on the BMW Wagon in order to get it done for around $2500.00USD Parts AND Labour. They got all the stuff from off of eBay & showed me everything they were doing & why. the ONLY thing they could not do?? was Reprogramme the DME/ECM Computer so I could get it State-inspected (Check engine light was on because it was throwing the "YIKES!!: there's no Transmission to work with any more" code violations). That was remedied with a referral to "SPEC Motorsports" in McKinney, TX. I know, I know...this is a Diesel forum, however I must be up-front that I received an eMail asking for my un-biased referral & opinion of DS&M & although I'm biased I must say that the Shoppes only fault?? is that they seem to take on too much work & are so eager to please & take care of people & their needs that they really drop the ball on their time scheduling....all I know is that I learned to be patient with that shoppes time on my projects because in the end?? I'm sure that all the great Master-pieces of Art & engineering, like any quality job that is done & invested the the time to do a job right??....all ran over-schedule on the timing. Right now? DS&M is putting to-gether a "I'm comin' to meet yah Jesus" Wicked Big-Bore Kawasaki KZ1000 with a lot of custom features for me. Yeah, because I'm easy to work with & I don't want to meet Jesus all that too soon & because I want a slow & steady wins-the-race quality job fdone on my project?? My project gets pushed back in favour of others who are either a bit more mean, aggressive or just impatient with "their needs" & with pushing DS&M to get their stuff done FIRST.....ME, ME, ME attitudes.....Gawd, that's one thing Canadiennes are not known for. Can't You American's just kinda relax & let a specialist get what they need to get done in a proper respectful time element?? I think it's the "Fast-Food" Mentality......maybe. Merde on Fast-Food, the only thing that ought to be "fast" is a Diesel!! Well, at least when it's in a 1978 Westfalia Camper!! lolz. Want to talk with me over the phone?? Just P/M me off of our Facebook page: Rhino-Lip USA. Hope that helps. (Sorry to be so long on the diatribe).
