Well there has been a lot of talk around lately about the Dorman bellowed uppipes, how we'll they are made etc... Well I decided to give them a try and had two 7.3's in the shop in need of manifolds and uppipes. I ordered both manifolds and uppipe sets from rock auto parts looked pretty good. Insta was quite a different story. First off I checked all part numbers and parts to ensure I had all the right parts and all looked good. I then put both manifolds on and just ran the bolts down until they were seated to fit the uppipes. I put the uppipes on and ran into the first bit of trouble. Both pipes lacked 1/2" or better from meeting the manifold and the bellows would have to be stretched a good bit to fit which I didn't like real well and thought that kind of sucked. Second, I went to torque the manifolds to the spec 45 ft-lbs. drivers side went smoothly no problems. Passenger side I started at the rear working my way up. On the last bolt I hear a "pow" noise and think either the threads came loose or a bolt broke. But the manifold actually cracked right beside that bolt. I was kind of aggravated but said oh well I have the second one I can put on and send this one back before I do the other truck. So I put the other one I have on and guess what? THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN THE SAME EXACT SPOT! At this point I'm pissed. Everything I had left was sent back and are having ford parts put back on. Moral of the story is the price looks great but you get what you pay for and I would suggest nobody buy these things.
