So today I pulled my truck into the shop with the intent of changing out my glow plugs after work. So I get everything taken apart and I take out the first 2 glow plugs no problem and install 2 new ones. So I get to the 3rd one and as soon as I loosened it I knew it wasnt right. So I tried to see if it cracked put their was too much oil in the way. So I continued to lightly unscrew it until I could just turn the extension and socket with my fingers. When it came loose I took my needle nose and grabbed the glow plug and it was a lil sticky but came out with a lil more resistance than the others. But....I was missing the bottom stuck in the hole.:doh::doh::doh:Well I tried to pull it out with needle nose and to no avail its stuck. So I called my shop and asked him what to do and he said he really didnt know but made a few phone calls and the guys wouldnt let out their secrets in how to get em out but they did say it was okay to drive. After getting really frustrated I decided to put everything together and just have a shop do them. So I got everything together and turned it on. Nothing sounded funny so Im hoping its stuck tight and doesnt go anywhere in my engine and cause some damage. I locked up the shop and drove home about a mile and as I accelerated she just fell on her face and went boom. Im thinking greaaaaat that piece just went into a cylinder. Thankfully I heard my turbo whistle really loud and knew it was one of my boots off my intercooler pipes. Thank God it was and I tightened it down, musta been slacking putting it back together as I was wondering what harm I did to my truck. Im gunna call a few shops tomorrow and see if they can get that one out and do the rest of them. I dont know how big of a problem that piece is and how bad it could be.
