For the slightly more extra time and peace of mind I would pull the heads n put new gaskets on your already in that far it doesn't make sense to do it twice if something's wrong already I got 80,000 on mine and never really abused my truck and it only puked under a really hard load once in a great while. I pulled both my heads cab on with manifolds and up pipes still attached as I was replacing the up pipes anyway if was no problem and put on the new heads with the new manifolds on so I didn't have to fight the bolts getting them on as clearance is tight on the passengers side to get a wrench on the manifold bolts the heads flew right on with them in place and have plenty of room to torque it down properly and never had to losen the engine mount bolts it can be done and it's not very hard at all. I chose to replace anything that is known to fail on my way as I don't wanna do it again such as up pipes, lifters, pump gasket and oil cooler and added push rods and rockers even thou mine were in great shape I don't like doing anything twice time is money. Ford quoted me 4,000 just to put new gaskets n stock bolts on that doesn't include sending the heads to machine shop or anything else with everything I replaced and added including 2 new heads and ported intake manifold and custom up pipes and ported 6.0 manifold I'm just slightly over what ford quoted me for so I can't see how saving yourself the expense and doing it all yourself doesn't make just as much sense if your able to and don't have a lift
