I fully agree that the stud or installer kit (make sure it has the M16-2.0 threads) is the best install option. I used a bolt because I didn't want to spend the $80 on a tool I would very rarely use, and the tool I had rented for the job was broken. If you buy the M16-2.0x90mm bolt I recommended it will allow the bolt to be threaded in to the crank about 20mm or so, this will help to prevent overstressing the female threads in the crank. The installer tool I tried (O'Reillys rental tool) only appeared to thread in about 30mm. The tool I rented wouldn't assemble correctly so I was forced to either purchase a tool or use the bolt ($83 vs $5.50). If you're going to install a Fluidampr, make sure you follow the directions and use LOTS of antisieze. I finished my install over the past weekend and the truck runs MUCH smoother. I'm talking instantly noticable. As others have stated the engine seems to rev smoother coming up to speed as well. I've got the 5speed and the shifter doesn't vibrate nearly as bad. After removing my stock damper I thoroughly inspected it, and there did not appear to be any issues with separation of the rubber. Prior to doing the Fluidampr & Melling M208 LPOP install I converted over to the T444E water pump, Super duty Pulley (smaller diameter) and 6.0L fan blades. All were very worthwhile modifications and while somewhat time consuming were pretty easy. The pulley and 6.0 fan have really improved the cooling system. I can provide a good parts list if anyone would like it.
