I have a 2013 cyclone 5th wheel and loaded with water, food for 3 days and 2 wheelers, and a dirt bike, might be 2000lbs I'm at the 18k rating. So what happens when I loaded it a little more, and hit 20k? My axles and tires are all within spec, the back is still within its limits.
Also what are you'll using for a hitch, my B&W is only rated at 18k also. A few years ago I didn't care, it will handle it, but not worth the fines, and getting the chance of getting sued.
Thanks.

Is that trailer weight total.
Dont forget that you have about 4000# of pin weight.
That will put you in the 16000 range on the trailer tires.
For a hitch I use a Curt 20K.

Yeah, that was gross. My pin is at 3000lbs give or take.
I don't have the weight ticket in me but I was around 6200 on my drive and 14500-14800 trailer. I also know that it put about 100-300 to the steer axle too.
I have 3 trailer axels with 3500lbs wall tires.
How do you like your Curt?

It has to be higher. My Cylcone (3912) which weighs the same was over 3600# dry and no options. So loaded I am in the 4000# range without my bike in the back. It will squat a F450.
I love the Curt, better than the other hitches I have had in the past.

I'll have to check my weigh ticket when I get back home in 10 weeks.
What's your thoughts on if I hit 20k on the trailer. Do they care about the GVWR of the trailer or just axles being within specs?

Just dont unhook it. If they weigh you it will be attached to the truck. So with the pin weight you will be fine. Just dont overload any of the axles or tires.
