well, i had the bypass setup on my 6.0 and when I got my 6.4 i transferred it over using the amsoil fill cap and NUC racing filter cap. for those unfamiliar, the bypass filter is fed from the oil filter cap and is returned to the engine via the oil fill cap. anyway the problem i ran into using the set up on the 6.4 was because of the location of the CCV sharing the same place as the oil fill. the ccv pressure was blowing the returned oil through the intake system. I was getting white puffs on start up, oil was low all the time, intercooler wound up with 3/4 of a quart of oil in it. To substantiate my thoughts i ran a piece of heater hose for the CCV, vented it to atmosphere and my thoughts were true. there was a ton of oil coming through the ccv it coated the underside of my truck on a highway drive and when you'd park it'd drip oil out the ccv hose. took off the bypass setup and bam! no more oil blowing throught the ccv. i hardly notice a drop being passed through now. I'm trying to figure out a better way to return the oil to the engine from the bypass without using the fill cap. Could you return it to the head via the valve cover on the driver side of the engine? Is the aluminum of the valve covers thick enough to drill and tap? I'd like some ideas, what do you guys think?
