Took it apart, found the dowel pin on the end of the actuator rod had fallen out. went ahead and replaced the rod with a new ford version, and long story short, broke the inner plastic piece inside the column that the end of the dowel goes through, so now, the key starts the truck again, but i have to pull the idm fuse to turn the truck off since the actuator rod pulls free of the inner plastic piece now.
