First picture:drivers side battery terminal. Tinned, cast copper. No cable exposed. Red is the glue-backed shrinkwrap. Second photo: I chose to use a flag here. I removed the "y" from the solenoid(pass side fender) and secure it to the lug on the flag with a 3/8 cast, tinned, hydraulically crimped, ring terminal. Keeping these separate allows you to rebuild/remove the power portion of the cables without messing with the solenoid. I placed the old, poured lead terminal above for reference to what the flag replaced. Picture#3: The parts guy fabricated the cables attempting to mimic the stock one for location of terminals. As a nice touch, he removed this rubber-isolated hanger and was able to re-crimp the steel hanger back on. It'll bolt right onto the ground lug on the pass side of the motor. Picture#4:The one Achilles heel! The terminal that goes on the lug on the starter has an open end. I can fill this with epoxy or even heat the terminal and draw solder into the end of the grain of the cable. This is where corrosion usually takes hold. Im thinking a two-part epoxy put on with a small knife will work well.
