maxxforce7 and 6.4 powerstroke short block same???

Anyone know if there is any difference in a maxxforce 7 shortblock and our 6.4s? Like cam specs and so on, I know there is lots of differences up top. I have found very little info on them but supposedly the block is stronger, at least thats what I read. I was thinking it might be a good choice for those of us needing a short block, as it should come with the upgraded pistons. And If its close in price to the powerstroke short block.
I called my local IH dealer and got no where, so I called MR Jim Haller, at Hallers repair, (very helpful guy) he is going to check my engine sn with IH and see what if any differences there are. While I wait to hear from him I wanted to know if anyone had any info on this.

Front and rear covers are different, not sure they come with the short block. Interested to see the outcome.

cant imagine the block needing to be stronger, we havent even found the limits of the block yet.

I am not sure on the strength, I did read that it was stronger but that is not my main concern. If I end up going with a new shortblock, I want IH pistons in it anyway. My thinking is if I can get one from IH with better pistons for close to the same money why not?

Mr Haller got me a IH part # for the maxxforce7 short block, so I gave it to my dealer. My parts guy emailed a IH engineer with my guestions about the block and his response was it will not work. He said the crankshaft flange is different along with other things I cant think of now. It was worth a shot though, and the price was 4900$ thats cheaper than a ford one for me at wholesale.

Looks like I will be taking my block to the machine shop next week.
