Well these threads are never really that much fun………….
Specs: 2003 7.3 4x4, Marty’s Fuel, PHP Tunes, FF 180/100’s, 38r, Tymar, CCV, 4” exhaust, Viper Remote Start
(let me know if more info is needed)

The truck won’t start at all. It doesn’t crank anymore. The WTS light and gauges all come on like normal. The fuel pump runs, makes about 62psi. Though I need to double check that. No smoke issues

No CE light, can’t pull codes yet. Autoenginuity is on it’s way to my house right now, so I can’t give any technical info just yet. I know I should have already had one, but new guns kept popping up on my radar.

Two or three times in the last 2 weeks the truck would crank a long time, but won’t turnover. If I’d wait about a minute after the initial attempt, it would start up very close to normal. However the long cranks wouldn’t happen every time. Just those 2-3 instances. Then it finally died.

It has been running really strong ever since adding Marty’s Fuel about 5ish months ago (worth every penny). We noticed the IPR was on it’s way out during the install. It had the occasional romps. Though it did zero romping within the last few months.

The batteries/alternator is at least 3 years old now. They were on the truck when I got, so I cannot give em an exact age. They’re motorcraft’s and are probably due to be changed.

What meter should I get to check the batteries?

I’m sure I don’t have all the tools necessary, but I can probably get my hands on them. It’s been sitting about a week now. I just haven’t had time to get under the hood. But this weekend is wide open.

What do I need to check, and how? IPR, CPS, ICP, IDM, batteries, fuses, starter, alternator….?

If more info is need, just let me know. Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!

Yes there is a Reservoir. It is right in front of the fuel bowl (or where it used to be). There is an allen screw on it. Remove it and dip it with a skinny screwdriver or a piece of wire coat hanger. Oil should be within 1/2 inch of the top.

Well crisis averted. So far. Checked the batteries, both were bad. Had some decent corrosion on em. Changed em out and the truck fired right up like normal. I'll still be checking the hpop, ipr and cps this weekend when I have some real time.
