Throw in milled heads, milled block or both its even closer. Go to the strip, sled pull or do a burnout and break a u-joint, input shaft or something else you end up with an over rev. Even with better springs and pushrods I have still seen these hit. Mainly on the exhaust valves. Valve reliefs are good insurance and do not make any bit of difference on anything else. The pistons I have even in full competition trim; standard bore, valve reliefs and straight wall bowl still is 17:1. And for really most climates is totally fine on a common-rail engine. My question to most is, if you are doing pistons why not add valve reliefs? Unless its a bone stock rebuild with no future plans of ever doing anything performance to it. Just my $0.02 [/QUOTE]
