You can turn on/off options depending on your hometown or the area in which you are traveling. There are many different options to hide them as well. They have remote mount kits and Ive even seen some rearview mirrors that have the display built in them. I just switched from an Escort and I like it much better. I have mine wired to an aux switch so I can turn it off and on. The wire is ran through the headliner and the actual detector is mounted on the stem of the rearview as seen in these pictures with the old Escort.
