From what I have heard from other users, the auto part store ones tend to swell in the head and the tip will break and off comes the head. Also what viscosity and brand of oil is going through the truck and how often do you change it? Oil can and will play a big factor in cold starts. My truck has had Rotella T 15w-40 in it since it was new, just recently switched to Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic and I did notice a difference in starting and how smooth the trucks runs in the cold.
