To answer your original question, you can go a few different avenues. Buy a trans already built, or buy the parts and rebuild it yourself, whether you send it to a shop you trust or physically do it yourself. I opted to find a shop. If you are like me, your want to do it once, and move on to the next mod. So if you have to save for a few more months, do it. Elite builds an solid running tranny at a good price. Keep in mind, a trans that will withstand an 800 hp motor, is going to run you at least 7-8k, and expect more. Suncoast is popular, but can be super pricey when you get into high HP levels. Warren builds a solid trans that i have heard wonderful things about as well. Heres what i did... I studied, studied then studied some more. I ended up finding a transmission guy who was a smaller business in my area, that had built transmissions for people i know. Then i called him. Told him i wanted to order the parts, and have him install them. He then found the parts, researched them, and actually found the kits cheaper. We negotiated a cash price (saved me $800), and i dropped the truck off. When he got the parts, i went down and confirmed the part numbers, and gave him the go ahead. When he tore the trans down, i went down there and inspected all the old parts. He built and installed within a day of getting the parts. I went with elite's HD rebuild kit, their billet input shaft, their intermidiate shaft and a trans star triple disk converter. I was going to go with the precision industries stallion, but i talked to some people who run the trans star converter in their race cars, and they love em. I went with a 1400 stall, and couldnt be happier. Good luck, research is your friend. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
