[QUOTE="Racer X, post: 288785, member: 1934"] No, 6.0 converters don't fit 7.3L Powerstroke Diesels correctly. The 6.0 converter when compared to a 7.3 converter has two dimensional differences in size. While the 6.0 converter will bolt up, the studs will not center in the 7.3L's flex plate holes. The pilot to cover also has a different dimension. Both of the dimensional differences will cause unbalance and vibration whether the driver can feel it or not, which in turn accelerates wear on crankshaft and rod bearing in the engine and gear-train connected parts in the transmission. This is why Ford does not sell or advertise the 6.0 converter for use in 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel trucks. To make a 6.0 converter fit a 7.3 correctly the 6.0 cover must be cut off and replaced with a 7.3 cover. Then the converter must be rebalanced correctly or the above problems will still occur. Once a converter is cut open, it loses up to 0.285" or a little over 1/4" of an inch of material. It makes accurate re-balance of an O.E.M. converter difficult at best and perfect alignment of converter clutch splines near impossible. An aftermarket converter has more material and is better suited to being opened and successfully reassembled and balanced correctly.
