You get slowed down on 2% of your miles with what you have and the trip takes a few minutes longer than if you could keep speed limit. Truck is much better than stock with the modifications, I just live with it and relax knowing I have 50K more in my retirement, and pull the long hills a little slower. I can usually keep the speed with just dropping out of OD, but if it gets slowed down by other traffic I occasionally have to drop it down to 2nd. I suspect that is what happens to you. Before being modded I pulled into Death Valley from the west with a large TT, had it down in 1st for the top half of the hill and had to stop part of the way up for the transmission to cool down.
