What would make a transmission not shift from first? I take off from a light and it stayed in first, any ideas? Is it a popular problem?

Well got back to my truck with a trailer and tried it again to see if it would shift and it did so I kept going and made it about 7 more miles and then took off from a stop sign and it didn't shift again so here I am sitting on the side if the road waiting for a trailer

It could be something in the intermediate clutch, the intermediate one way clutch, the shift solenoid, or the shift valve. Checking the PCM for codes with the right scan tool is the best way to start diagnosing what's wrong.

Okay, I got a guy coming with a snap on so we'll go from there

Well gonna change the solenoid pack! Hope the rest of the year doesn't turn out like today has

Stick one in that my friend had at his place that was supposedly good but it started out in 4th gear, so I guess I'll get a different one and try it out

Starting out in fourth gear usually means no power to the shift solenoids.

Yup, the plug wasn't all the way plugged in
