Just wanted to give a heads up on a transmission fluid leak I had. Changed my filter and refilled pan with fluid about 10,000 miles ago at 80k. Wanting to swap the fluid out a few times every 10k to clean it instead of having a flush done. Read that it takes 9 quarts so that's what I put back in. Never bothered to check, just drove it. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, noticed a fluid drip. Crawled underneath and there was fluid coming from the back of the pan, thought it was from the gasket so I tightened it up the pan. Washed it off and drove for a few days and it was still there, then I noticed fluid coming from the top of the transmission. Ended up taking it to the independent shop I go to. They crawled underneath to look and said there's a vent on the top of the tranny that will relieve if there is too much fluid. I had planned on draining the pan anyway so I drained it, and this time put in 7.5 quarts. So far it seems to be ok. In case anybody encounters the same problem, this is what I ran into.
