The injectors, gutted intake manifold, and diverter valve. Then you have to have the fuel system to support the 190's, and the a way to monitor vitals (CTS). Then I had to go though 5 different tunes from different people. You know the usual. lol. Non-VGTs work basically the same, only difference is you do not variable veins. In order to keep the turbo in its "sweet spot" you have to adjust trans tuning. Mostly you hold the gears a little longer, and most tuners will make sure that the trans will not go into overdrive TC locked until 55- 60 MPH. And instead of hammering the throttle from a stop, you have to roll into it. This keeps you from choking out the turbo. It is driving the truck with these differences that give the truck a learning curve. When I first got the turbo, I did not have any real mods done to the truck. I hated the turbo. I really hated the turbo on the highway. Tuning helped alot. Then I upgraded to bigger injectors. Then I upgraded to the diverter valve, and modded intake manifold. All of these changes helped the truck and the driving manors. Now it is a blast to drive this truck. I do not do wide open throttle runs with the truck, never done a boosted launch 2wd, or 4wd. There is really no need to for me. I also want my trans to live a little longer. lol. I am not trying to talk you into or out of a Non-VGT. I am sure the MTW turbos are very street-able and fast. I don't have any experience with them. Maybe some one who has had both can offer a little in sight? I would like to know if the MTW turbos hands down spool faster.
