I recently had a conversation w/ a well known vendor who's been doing the 7.3 thing since it came about. I'd argue he was the one or one of the one's who got the injector building started back in the what 2000, 2001? That being the case, we discussed a smallish GTX3576/3582 being fed by a GTX 4294 or 4202. I had discussed running somewhere along the lines of a 200/200 up to a 250/200. He mentioned the 4294 would work well but the two combined would be the bee's knees only it would cost more. This combo would run smoke free, in any setting, have instant off idle spool for use in a DD and would run cool to boot. Being that they are both GTX's it would be spendy but in that regard I didn't care. I could save some $$ and get Precision units but I've been talked out of their BB units more than once compared to the Garrett BB units. The off idle responsiveness would significantly exceed the single unit and w/ the larger unit, top end wouldn't suffer and egts even WOT would be so much nicer. Like Dentx said, it is an older platform and I like several aspects of my 6.4 but at a 3rd the cost I can buy a 7.3, add another 10k make it plenty fun and reliable and put the other 10k away. I don't need 600 hp I suppose and I sure as hell don't need the emissions head ache as the EPA pushes to get more and more states implementing testing. Boys, I feel the EPA testing for more and more states is on the way. They cannot implement standards for the 7.3 that apply to the 6.0 or the 6.4. However if you own a 6.4 and you drive through a state that does, it would suck donkey b@lls to encounter a surprise inspection test. You may win the ticket but how much time and money will it cost you to beat a $200 ticket? It is just another reason I'd be happy to get a reasonable 7.3 set up, maybe do some custom work and enjoy the mileage and money in my bank. Good luck OP, just do it. Or go b@lls out and try for trips!:D
