4 miles down the road, and both times now happens once the motor gets up to temp, started skipping and missing.
Tach loses signal or skips and hops around.
And my starter solenoid went out same time.
Side of road again.

I wish it was.
I'm home having a beer and the truck is waiting to be towed tomorrow morning still on the side of the road.
I'm done working on it for now.
Time for someone else to fix it.
Don't have time for this shi*.

You could check to make sure the CPS that is in the engine does or doesn't have contact marks with the cam gear.

I'll do that while waiting for the tow truck tomorrow morning.
I'll let you all know what happens.

Had it dropped off at Mikes Diesel Performance this morning.
Had codes P0340, P0341 and P0344.
They will be looking into the issue real soon.
Don't think it's the cam gear walking as the CPS looked fine again.

I hope so too.
Or PCM.

I know you said you put a new PCM in it a while back. But have you swapped it out for another to see?

I ask because several years ago my old truck would randomly die running down the road. Sometimes it would just be a "blip", other times completely dead. Other times it would be sitting parked and wouldn't start. I assumed cps and when that didn't fix it, I started noticing the high pressure oil falling off so I thought my IPR was sticking open. Swapped and same deal.

Long story, it ended up being the PCM causing the issue all along. I found it by accident when I swapped that PCM into another truck of mine and it started doing the same thing. So don't rule out your new PCM either.

No I have not been able to swap with a known good PCM.
Don't have a spare available.
I have had this PCM in the truck for about three years but spent the last 2 in the garage so who knows.
I hope to find something out in a few days from mikes.

It could be PCM, but someone said wiring harness-- I think that's where you'll end up going. The VREF is shared between the CPS, IPR, MAP and EBP. Hopefully its just a wire short, bad plug, etc..

The future 7.3 parts market will be in repopped wiring harnesses and sensors...

They need to come on with it.

Ive sent emails to ford about doing a run of engine harnesses. Even for the obs. With an obs there is a real possibility you could be truckless over a harness. The sd is next. I never got an answer on it happening or not. The harness. The only input I got was stating that it would be "significantly more" than a link i included in my email that had the price of the engine harness as if 2013. They had the numbers and price in the system yet but no products to sell. Same with battery cables for dual alt trucks.

exactly what my dually did.. and you wont feel the cam gear walk.. you have to bar the motor over a couple revolutions and measure then bar it the opposite way a couple revolutions then measure..

Had to.
If it's just the harness or PCM they can fix it.
If it is the cam gear walking, then I will have to re evaluate the situation.

Nothing yet.
When I dropped it off initially we spent an hour going through what was done step by step.
I spoke with them Wednesday and they had not looked at it yet.
They had a few trucks in front of me.
So I'm not anticipating anything till next week.
