I am ready to paint my emblems and was wondering how to split apart the grill emblem. It seems like the blue plastic buttons or whatever they are need to be cut in order to separate the badge. Is that accurate? If so how do you put it back together? Also I thought the tailgate badge came apart like the grill but mine does not. Does Ford offer two different ones? Thanks.

You have to drill them out. I just went through this on my truck. having a very early platinum my tailgate emblem was not the same as the front. I had to tell the dealer to give me one off a 2014. I don't know why mine was different. Also there is a company that sells these painted. I wish I would have known before I bought new emblems and had them painted. My painter hated painting these for me.

Thanks, I took my tailgate emblem off today and it doesn't come apart either, must have changed that for 2014. How did you put your front one back together after you drilled the tabs?

Drilling or a cut off wheel work to grind down the head, I've just noticed that drilling likes to snap off the stud sometimes that holds the blue pieces to the chrome piece. All I do is use a 3m two part epoxy and but a small bead on the end of each stud. Holds them just like the oe plastic weld setup does, good luck.

Anyone know of any companies or websites that you can buy or have emblems painted? Been looking but no luck finding anything other than the overlays or billet stuff. Just wondering before I pull mine off to get them stripped and painted

A large unibit makes quick work of the tabs on the back.

If your truck is not equipped with a factory back up camera, then the emblem does not come apart.

Mine has the backup camera it's a 14 so I know they both break apart. I'm going to check out custom truck solutions as soon as I get a chance to see what he has to offer sounds like it might be a winner I hope
