Honestly it's probably to keep the spectators out of the pits. Texas is the worse at having the pits full of non racers. The pits are for the racers not spectator parking

More of the people who will just pull in the pits where racers are pitting just to park close or to show off their ride. It gets rather annoying when you out racing and after your run there is a car parked in your pit and you can pull in
