s364.5 fmw non-vgt manufacturer?

Just been doing some reading on non-vgts the "bw" s364.5 is it made by them or modified by someone else? I keep hearing Borg Warner makes it but nothing for certain and I can't see to find that turbo on their site and then I hear things on other sites that someone else make the covers? What's the right answer?

I would assume the ones you're hearing of are the ones built at High Tech Turbo. They are built using genuine borg warner parts but are assembled by HT Turbo with multiple compressor cover, turbine a/r, and turbine wheel sizes available. Turbos are built to suit depending on needs amd fueling.

You'd be welcome to call with any questions or some direction on which is best for you. Can also get you in touch with multiple site vendors that are HT Turbo dealers.

Thank you. Ya HHT has come up in my reading. So is there one made by both or is the HTT one the only one?

Good to hear. Just out of curiosity how well with this turbo work on stock sticks? And would 190/30 be a decent match for it when the time comes? I'd still like to be able to tow up to 10k

Don't have the concrete answer but if I can tow a mustang with tools on 205/75's with a race file (srlxx) then I would think 190's would be perfect. All in the nozzle size for heavy towing.

In the op case, should he do the 364.5 fmw and 190/30s what will it make all out and will it tow well?

I too have been trying to find an answer to towing heavy with non vgt and 190/30.

Best i can find is this 364.5 is a great turbo for heavy towing but nothing definitive.

I don't think he would have a problem as long as he kept it at 30% over nozzles, I might try this combination come winter.

The 362 FMW that everyone loves on the 6.0 uses a 62mm FMW compressor, 68mm turbine, and .83 a/r housing. So if you're familiar with how those run with a specific injector, the 64.5/70/.91 is going to be slower to spool but have a much stronger top end and cooler EGT's due to the big jump in compressor flow and lower back pressure from the 70mm turbine (with the same injector). The 70mm turbine wheel really seems to work well on the 6.0L and I love the way it works in my Duramax. Great middle of the road exhaust size option between the 68mm and the 74mm (found in the standard 366).

The 64.5mm FMW wheel actually flows about the same as a cast 66 Borg wheel, but due to its size and weight will spool better while making pretty similar power. As long as your drive pressure doesn't get crazy from tons of fuel of course. Most of the 64.5/70 combos have been built with the .91 a/r, but a .83 or 1.0 could be used as well...

Thanks for all the info. Never paid a lot of attention to non vgts but they seem pretty awesome when you look into them more. Just trying to wrap my head around all the wheel sizes and what not. Injectors and non vgt aren't in my immediate future unfortunately, but it's always fun to learn about new things and different options

I run the 62 on stock injectors... it cleans up every last bit of fuel available. That's on a race tune with FICM tuning as well, smoke free at WOT. Depending on your power goals, the 62 might be a good option as well. I'd be interested to see how the 64.5 goes with stock injectors. My 62 doesn't seem to like any of my "milder" tunes. Like my tow tune, you can just tell there isn't enough fuel to really drive the turbo. I now tow exclusively with my street tune, and even that is pretty tame. It's easier to spool running X-street, and FICM tuning woke it up even more.

The 64.5 would run poorly I'll bet on stock sticks.. not enough fuel. The 64.5 cleans up my 205/75's to nothing on Matt's srlxx reduced fuel tune.

Are you going to being moving up to larger injectors? I thought I remember reading that you were thinking of some 175s possibly?

So if the 64.5 will clean 205/75's up, do you think the 62 would clean up 190/30's? i've been looking at this option to get the most out of the 62, but this would be a sweet setup for the OP too.
