I had a set custom built for a Dodge by a rock crawler shop that I had moved to my Ford about a year ago.

I like them because they are tucked up high, this is not price effective though compared to the brands you mentioned. Back when I had these built the OUO of the world really weren't out there building high quality parts like they do now.

Why can't you see spending 800 plus on traction bars? You spend way more then that on tires and they wear out?

It will be a very similar price to an OUO minus get them coated most likely...You just have a bit more of a risk when you aren't sure what yore going to get. These where a very tight fit since I have bags mounted above them. If you know of a good fab shop you should be good.

Highly doubt it. Plus it would need to be modified most likely and be counter productive.

You will have a really hard time getting into a set at the quality and price of the OUO or PMF. Where do you live?

These guys did mine there are some pics if you scroll down. Not sure if they need the truck or not to build a set.

For one thing the OUO ones will work and won't bend like the procomp ones do. LOL

You can spend a few hundred more or doubled...whatever the extra ends up being. But I know you won't have any problems with the OUO ones. They work great, your leaf springs still will work as designed. Your ride quality won't suffer with these on your truck. You can incorporate air bags with the setup. They are adjustable length and even height if you do a block setup. You can actually call someone on the phone who actually understands suspension and talk to them about it. You won't get a BS answer...LOL

There are some guys who have had multiple traction bars on their trucks. They break/bend/squeak/don't like the first set and end up with a set of OUO ones.

These are jdgleason's photos....

I would never put anything on my truck from Cognito after I saw their stuff at SEMA. It all looked like a bad copy of everyone else's stuff.

The PMF bars start out at $450. For the little bit that you're saving going with pro comp or another, seems like you'd just buy the PMFs.

Quality will be top notch, and they'll do exactly what they're designed to and you won't have to worry about it. I had PMF bars on my last truck and have them again on this truck. Wouldn't have it any other way.

The OUO instructions are from 2009....they are old...LOL. Most guys don't opt for the fixed length bars.

The extra money is for the longevity of the kit, I have seen with my own eyes how procomp will rattle and squeak after a year. From what I gathered the OUO will last forever and will never vibrate, rattle and will allow the truck to flex in a ditch and not binding.

I do have a questions for the long time users of OUO, do they rust? I live in Illinois and see a lot of salt and gravel.

I would think it would hold up pretty good. But it is still a powdercoated product that probably would be fine if you hose it down with some WD40 every once in a while...LOL

If you didn't touch it I bet you would have some spots here and there after some years. All the hardware is coated pretty good. But anything will eventually give in to the salt/de-icer chemicals after so long without maintaining them. Thankfully we just have the de-icer's here and not the salt!! The trucks usually look pretty good after so many years.

Here is some more pics of the set I stuck on my Dads 2002 truck recently.

Then here is my old setup on my truck. It was the traction block setup with long gussets.

So what's better the block set up or the reg bolt on style ? I do like the pmfs looks like stage 2 with gussets are 650 which are not much more the the pro comps! And nothing pisses me off more than squeaking
