I like that you can plug in a computer and tune the crap out of it. If only I had time to work on it, been sitting in my office for close to a year.

Mike (bigpowr) how do you like them Focals? If you could compare or contrast, would you buy those Focals again or would you give Hertz components (or another brand) a shot?

So if I have the HSK 165 XL - Hertz 6.5" 2-Way Component Speakers (see here:http://www.caraudionow.com/product/6-5-component-speakers-6-5-car-speakers/hertz/hertz-hsk-165xl/) what would I use as far as an amp to power these? I am not putting speakers in my back doors so these are the only speakers requiring power. As far as the back door speakers from the factory, can they be wired into whatever I go with as well or are they just going to remain wired the way that they are? I am only using the one 10TW3 JL sub which I know that I will need an amp for as well...

Are the JL amps any good? Alpine?? I was thinking maybe a Monoblock 600/1V3 JL or the Alpine 600 Watts x 4 RMS @ 4ohm Alpine PDXF6 / 4 Channel 150W Amplifier for the component speakers and maybe a Logic unit that Mike referred to previously? I just don't want to buy something too little or too much for the speakers up front. As for the crossovers, well, I understand the general rule of thumb as far as active over passive xover; the RMS power match, etc.

I had a 900/5 running everything with my Hertz hsk165s and it was more than enough.

Small footprint...1 amp. Just sayin.

500 on my subs 400 running everything else

So, to really sum it up- all I need is the 900/5? Again, I am only doing the HSK 165 for up front and (1) 10TW3-4 sub.

Thanks!

I ordered the 165XL HSK Hertz 6.5, JL HD 900/5, and Lc7i Audio Control. I also ordered the JL 10TW3-4 subwoofer. I will be leaving the factory speakers in the back doors and I hope to retain the original nav/steering wheel controls.

My question is whether the 165xl in 6.5's need to be bumped out a little or is the magnet on them going to be good enough to fit right in the adapter plates/doors? I searched but could not really get a definitive answer. As far as wrap, I plan to either use the RoadKill Stinger bulk pack or the DynaMat to do all four doors.

Again, I appreciate all the input as I am just trying to find the best possible mounting solutions for this project...

I'm late to the party but I have (1) stereo integrity mkiv 12" sub and I've yet to hear a superduty (within reason) that has anywhere near the accuracy. I had a JL shallow 12" before this one and it sounded like ass comparatively

I think you'll be fine with the your magnet clearance. I run the hertz milles on my truck and and have no clearance issues. But of course I'm not certain on the hsk's. My tweeters also fit right into the factory sail panels if that info helps you at all

Wait a minute! ASS?! Why did it sound bad at all with reviews so "stellar"?
