Been running a mini maxx for about 4 months and the truck does strange stuff. Low fuel light pops on randomly, my mileage got even worse and I’m beginning to think that the canned tunes are what’s screwing with my boost indication. Anyone have a lead on good daily and tow tunes?

Welcome to PSA.

What's all done to the pickup? Where did you get the mini maxx?

Thank you! I had it deleted at 115,000. The EGR system is still on the truck. It was a one time tune with a laptop from a local shop. Unfortunately they do not support that anymore. I bought a mini maxx about 4 months ago from https://www.minimaxxtuners.com/.

Ok. I have have a mini maxx as well on my 6.4. But I believe mine is a H&S from back when H&S was still around. Mine has the unlock with the HD300 tunes as well. I believe yours would not. I also have had it for about 7 years.

My dad does have a mini maxx bought from the same place you got yours. But it's on a 6.7, just did it, so far so good.

First off. Have you contacted minimaxxtuner and let them know what's going on? Something could very well be messed up on there end.

Secondly, have you tried returning the pickup to stock. Than redownloading the tuner?

I have not contacted the company as of yet. As far as reloading tunes I have reloaded right over the top of the old one but I have not returned the truck to stock and then reloaded.

Did you have your computer flashed with a stock file before putting the mini maxx on?

I would return to the stock file than load the mini maxx again.

Is far as I know, (I could be wrong) the mini max builds your tunes based off the stock file. If that's the case I would think having a non stock file would mess with it.

So if I return to stock and reload it would load them properly?

Yea when you install the tuner it saves whatever file it reads, when going to “stock” it just puts whatever tune it read originally back in. For instance if the truck had a sct tune and then you went to tune with the MM then went back to stock it would revert to the sct tune that was previously installed.

Well it loaded the old tune just fine. But I’m still having a high boost issue at very low acceleration levels. When though the EGR is off could it cause a problem like that?

Your high boost at low rpm/acceleration levels could actually be the VGT controller. They will do the same thing. Mine did that very thing. But it was not all the time and it sometimes would not spool at all. And it was worse in cold weather.

Not saying that's you trouble.

If I warm the truck up it seems to be better. Is that the actuator you’re talking about? Mine tests good.

The VGT controller is what controls the high pressure turbos vanes. The smaller turbo. Interestingly enough of I let my pickup warm up it did respond better. But when the outside air is below zero not a lot helped it. At 40 below it was really bad.

The actuator I am refering to is what's bolted to the high pressure turbo. It has it's own separate coolant system.

Did you change the entire controller?

This may work with MM, but it does not work with SCT. My '11 came with a deleet tune, of which I overwrote with SCT custom tunes.

Just for kicks before I sold it I tried to return to stock. Every emissions light was on and it would not start.
