2004 starts....runs...then dies

You may want to pull the cam sensor and inspect it, and also inspect the block surface it mates up to. Sometimes it can rust and actually push the sensor out. Might also look over the connector and wiring.

When it is running, do the rpm's look stable?

Let me guess....this Cam sensor is gonna be a place the sun does not see! LOL, off topic it's raining here...so not going to check that just yet...what did the witch say due to the rain? I'm melting...I'm melting...sorry bad humor...You make a great point on the rust...never would have thought it would happen near or push a cam sensor out! Very good clue there bubba! Wow...ughh..wow... Dumb question...not enough to make a cam code appear? Dumb me I did not look at the rpm to see if stable while running...I was happy it was running .....LOL! going to check see if I can find pic of where this Cam sensor is....thanks for that heads up...wow who'd thunk!

Cam sensor isn't that bad to replace. You need to get under the truck and it is easy if you have big tires or are lifted, lol.

Replacing the connector and wiring is a worse job than replacing the sensor.

P2614 is a cam sensor code. That said, it isn't exactly stratight forward because that code can also be generated by excessive cranks or after a stall event. Could also be caused with a shorted out injector coil.

P2617 is a crank sensor code. Sometimes that sensor fails (not often), but you SHOULD notice erratic rpms when it fails.

I can't make this up...it's snowing right now! Yeah right ...big tires and lifted(don't have)...lol..you just want to watch Winnie the Fool thing take place I know it! LOL... I did notice the 2614 was one of the codes in the video above for Cam deal...Yet again been doing lots of cranking to get it to go...so there's that. I was going today go give it a crank without the "reader" connected and see the story if it will start and run again and check the rpm needle bouncing' thing! ohh let it snow let it snow-another movie reference...I think this truck has me lost my mind! THANKS Bismic...Be safe-Drive- straight with right turns only! (packages of auto parts arrive faster that way) I told ya I've lost it! LOL

Definitely the code CAN come from excessive cranks, but it can be from a sensor error also. Wish things could be easier.

Keep an eye on FICM Sync also.

Update......and lol...more like the "total lost it club"
Yesterday I started it up to look at rpm like you said...I was sitting there smile'n watching the needle NOT move- flicker that is...smilin' that the truck is still running! HEEEHAWWW
so there is no crank sensor issue or at least we think from the rpm needle staying calm............
I then walk around the truck thinking this sounds good..then BAM! all on it's own it shuts down...blink of eye...faster than one can do a house switch!
I was like damn.....ya's was doing so good...sounded good....so I restarted it.....then it ran for 20 mins till I shut it down

Today...very cold....thought i try......same thing started great....ran two min...Bam! shuts down faster than the wink of an eye...I restart it....runs great 2 mins....bam! shuts down...so I start one more time...starts right up fast...now it's running as I type...getting close to 20mins again....sounds good

question does undo'n one of the batteries "CLEAR" the codes? better than my friends OBD thing? Was thinking if we could get this down to one idea.....code...like this rust with cam sensor...that really makes me think it's in that direction!

Hey? dumb question.....just popped in my head....when I shut down tractors I have to pull a cable...but on vehicles that is electronic right? some sort of plunger? Can that cause the sudden shut downs?
