Anyone have a solution to the failing radiators? Been through 2 so far on someone's truck and I'd really like to not put in a radiator I know is gonna leak eventually. They aren't exactly a cheap part. And shouldn't need to be replaced every 50k miles. LOL

Sorry I don't have an answer for you , been thru 4 myself . I've searched for aftermarket ones but no luck there . Thought about having a custom one built but I guess I'll wait until this one pops. If you find something let us know .

I had 1 done under warranty in the first 20,000 miles and haven't had a problem since. My truck now has 125,000 miles on it.

Is it possible to pull the end tanks off and fab some aluminum end tanks to do away with the piss poor crimp? I'm sure its possible. Wish I had a TIG welder...

Mine leaked after 70,000 miles. It would be nice if someone came out with an aftermarket piece.
Jeff it is nice yours went so long without issues, but bagging about it doesn't help the guys with problems.

Bragging? Lmao

My post was to ensure that stock radiators do last. If that's bragging in your book, maybe you should look up the definition of that word.

Thanks, I will go look it up. How about it comes off obnoxious? You do it in any thread where someone states he has a problem, you always state how long yours has gone with no issues. We know most parts don't fail, but some guys don't have that luck.

LOL

Okay Erik. I'll be sure to remember that before I post next time.

And trust me, I've had my fair share of issues with my truck. The list is very, very long.

There are a number of TSB's from Ford on repeat radiator failure and the short version of it is installing the updated degas bottle/battery tray, updated upper and lower hoses, and confirm the there are no coolant leaks or air getting into the system.

I believe mine wasn't included in the tsb's and not covered. Weren't the ones covered job 1's? Mine split/leaked on the lower drivers side. From what I heard that is the area they all seem to come apart.

That is the same part that is leaking on this truck. Both times. It has the updated upper hose. Never heard of an updated degas bottle.

I know they had a TSB for them but I don't think that matters if you don't have a warranty.

If you have a degas bottle with two nipples pointed toward the front of your truck then it needs to be replaced. The large nipple should have a plug on it after the veturi tee update or in later production prior to the bottle upgrade/resizing. If the degas bottle only has one nipple then it should be the newest version.

9C3Z-8A080-AA Updated degas bottle, single nipple or port
9C3Z-8108-B Updated radiator cap
AC3Z-8260-A Updated upper hose with improved double oring sealing end(hose changes from black plastic ends to white)
AC3Z-8286-A Updated lower hose with improved double oring sealing ends

TSB # 11-12-4 dated Dec 12th 2011

Normal wty applies so if the truck is out of 3/36 you have to pay!

Nice post power stroker. Thats BS that if your warranty is out the TSB is not included for you. Updated parts that are known to fail should be installed or atleast given to if you still own the truck.

I'm gonna end up getting a new one for him and see what I can come up with for end tanks on the leaking one and see if it's worth doing.

Thanks everybody!

Does it drip when sitting? That is how I found mine, could see coolant on the cement and just went from there.
