.....On how long this transmission lasts?

5th gear went AWOL again tonight... Came back pretty quick though...

I have a theory...

What would cause a TCM to start ***ing up?

I had ZERO transmission OR charging issues, prior to my Dash Daq making my truck retarded after I loaded a tune that was not set up for EGR delete, and my rig going haywire... I had to put my batteries on a charger, over night, just to get it to start again... and one highway trip from NC to FL, and my DPC TC chit the bed. That is exactly the same time that I started noticing that my AUTO START would sometimes not fire the rig up, just "click"... AND that is when I noticed that I was only turning 12.5-12.75 Volts when running at 2,000 rpm on the highway...

SO, guys that are smarter than me, what do you think? Anyone else think that maybe my TCM is ***ed, and I should just get a new one? or is there anything else that would lead to me eating 6,000 bucks worth of transmissions every few weeks?

You would think that if the TCM was screwed it wouldn't let you load a tune. I would check the ever living sh!t out of that harness though.... I've seen a chafed trans harness do some stupid stuff.

Oh yeah, on top of that, my passenger side, front fender light, (Recon tinted LED) sometimes turns off at night, then turns back on... I check the volts when it happens, and there is no tell tale sign from that aspect... They are a year old... anyone know, as far as wiring diagram, where those wires are run, and if they are close to the trans wiring, and if they might be ***ing with each other?

Im just throwing things out there. At this point, I am satisfied that it was not the IDP tuning, as I have Gear head now, AND it is not the SCT, because the first trans explosion, was under Spartan control. AND there is now a 3rd complete transmission, with yet another TC, by a different manufacturer.... SO, this gremlin is IN MY TRUCk, and I have no idea where to start...

Oh, and ZERO codes are being thrown...

My silver truck needed a gem module. It was doing all kinds of wacky crap.

Sounds like it could possibly be a loose/faulty ground, just a thought.

That is what I was hunting down before... Nothing. Every ground was solid. Now, when I am cruising on the highway, I will sometimes look at the gauges, and see 13.6 V, at 2100 rpm... But, It might get back up to 14.2 in a few minutes...

14.2 is high for sure avs could cause issues with components ESP if there are even higher spikes in voltage.

General electronics module I think is what that stands for. Some call it a body control module. Basically a computer to run everything like door trigger switches to notify the dash, prob controls headlights wipers, maybe even the starter. Might also send the signal to the alternator to tell it how much to.charge.

Now that is something of interest... I'll def look into that. But, I still need something to do about my super powerful, stock fuel rig, eating transmissions.... LOL

What actually failed In this last Trans?

I'm bringing it back to Aaron this week. And we'll know for sure. I'm leaning toward TC or intermediate... If it is TC, the we def have an electrical issue. As I am not making enough power to smoke this thing, and I was driving pretty easy... Def treated my factory Trans worse ... LOL

The way that it is running right now, I would say I had about a week left before it chits the bed. Hopefully I make it back to Aaron's before it leaves me on the highway... again...

Also, I hit 14.53 volts at idle today... That cant be good...

Just food for thought, but I had a '97 PSD that had some weird shifting and some other odd things going out and it turned out that the T connector in the rear light harness that allowed for Trailer Brakes was corroded and causing a short. We removed the T for the Trailer Brakes and everything was fine. I'm not going to say that this is what's happening, but just that something little can raise all sorts of hell!

we had problems with our 6.7 spiking volts turned out to be a loose wire on the alternator.(dont know any more than that it was warranty fix) Didnt cause any tranny problems tho.
