How does a full billet comp 48re compare to running a 4r?
There are some pretty high Hp/ fast dodges running out there. I don't know their success rate but evidently they have them fairly reliable.

After I destroyed a fully built 5r in 5000 miles..ill never trust one behind high hp...at the time I was tune only, going wot up a hill...snapped an intermediate and then when it was torn apart every clutch pack was as burnt as could be...no thanks

was it a BTS 5R?
thanks!
Only one I've really heard of was a Suncoast unit on MPDs crew cab and it didnt last, although IMO there is much stronger 48s out there than a Suncoast unit.
Doesn't matter if it's built by NASA and designed to transmit power for the pump drive of a Saturn V rocket, if you drove it on the street every day and made decent power all the time you would eventually break it.
Brian is confident he will have cruise working, if he doesnt already have it. He told me a good bit about their solution to it, but I wont even attempt to regurgitate what he told me, lol.
Tonight I left a parking lot and went WOT on the H&S HD300 tune and didnt have a single issue with the trans, so it makes me really reconsider the 4R swap. But I'm still leaning strongly that way. I have some time to debate back and forth though.
Thanks again all, I really do appreciate all the feedback and discussion, mainly aimed at BTS 5R's.
I would agree on the suncoast side. You love your boy Lavon haha. Many other great builders of the 48 for sure.
other than a direct solenoid, i have never had issues with the 5R , broke a few junk intermediate shafts back in the day, and wiped a converter (suncoast 12") , my DD makes 750, its in that tune all day every day doing burnouts, and has been pretty dang reliable. i DO think for applications such as craig, or my green truck it may be the right move, but then again aaron has had alot of problems with his. 2 sides to the coin, and i think if the swap was seamless this discussion would get better. i absolutely LOVE the way my elite stage 4 works, by far the best trans i have ever had in a 6.4.
did you have the stg 4 or the stg 5 last dpc??
Why would a 4r not be recommended with people on stock fuel systems?
