Axle code 75 = 5.38 open

Upfitters (like Quigley) and body builders usually have the option to order things that aren't on the menu. All the literature lists 4.68 and 5.13 as the only ratios available but there are plenty more available... 7.17 is the deepest I've heard of.

BigStroker I'm sending a PM about the body.

seems like an odd gearing change.... My last one had 5.13s, I have no clue why anybody would ever desire to go taller than that.

Most oddball stuff like this is geared in the ground. My IH 4900 4x4 was originally a power company truck and when I bought it 53mph was the top speed running against the governer.

The 7.17 I've seen was an airport tug truck.

Little update... it was a long slow ride home with 5.38 rears and 235 tires! I think some 285/70r19.5's would reel it in a little, but its looking like $4k+ for a set of 6.

I like it though, I think I'm going to repaint it and put a flat bed on it.

so swap to 8 lug and save some coin! what rear axle does it have?

It has a 10 lug dana 80 with disc brakes. Swapping to 8 lug is not an option without changing out the whole rear for a lighter duty unit.

Also I was told the front end was an HP60 with adapters, but after I got it home and checked it out... It's a Dana 70 with 10 lug hubs. So the front would have to be swapped too.

I have a set of 4.10 cab and chassis dually axles, but it kinda looses the cool factor if I swap out for 350 axles. When you get to the 19.5x7.50 size that I would need to run the bigger tires, the price is the same for 10x7.25 as it is for 8x6.5 anyways.

What I did was grab some 10 lug 19.5 steelies from a chevy HD for 20 bucks a wheel, then threw some retreads on the drives and virgins on the steers
