Ported intake

So im gunna tear it down to the short block and replace the head gaskets and such. Looking at the ported JR intake from elite for $500. Is it going to gain me anything over my stock one with having stock heads?

You'll notice a good difference in temps and throttle response for sure! WOT temps drop over 100* and cruising temps drop over 50* as well.

Great add on for anyone.

It's almost a unicorn. All kidding aside the manifolds that are out there are very similar.

Well I got the stage 2 bolted on then realized there's a few things that used to bolt down on top of the stock intake. The new one doesn't have to stock bolts sticking up now Sooo what's a guy do? There's a big fuel line and turbo oil drain lines that are supposed to bolt to the intake that can't now..

Its a nice piece for sure! Be carefull not to drop a bolt down the hole while your installing and be carefull installing the plugs when your done. Some of them only have a couple threads to grab and they may try to go in crooked so just a heads up. Didn't have to much trouble here.

I cut a little piece of pipe and slid it into the holes for the bolts so I wouldn't drop them into the ports. It seemed to work well.

On the subject of ported manifolds, I have another Vendors manifold that would be a Stage 1 with the inner posts milled out that I'm getting ready to install. This one has no bungs, the threads are cut through the manifold material like "Fordtrucks" manifold. As he said the threads are marginal in some of the holes. Has anyone had any grief with a manifold modified in this way?. I don't want to go through all the trouble of installing this manifold & then have the plugs leak or worse, have one blow out.
I'll shelve this one & buy one of the manifolds that has bungs & ORB plugs if there is any doubt.

Don't quote me but I believe Morgan offers orb's, or can. I'm sure he will be along.

As far as install goes, dropping a bolt isn't a issue IF you thread each bolt down through the intake manifold gasket before you drop it on over the cylinder heads. Trying to free hand the bolts without using the gasket is a nightmare. If you're dead set on installing your manifold without using the gasket technique, pick up a magnetic end hex driver bit for your ratchet. Should be m6.

Somebody needs to buy my stage 2, btw lol
