Definitely need gauges. I can hit 2000 degrees unloaded taking off hard long enough. I wouldn't pull anything without a pyrometer with tunes.

My 36 foot 5th wheel weighs over 13,000 lbs loaded. That said my 2002 7.3 with swamps injectors and php tunes didn't have any issues other than one hill that was 2 miles long and 30 degree incline. I actually turned the cruise control off at the top of the hill because the trans temp was rising...

Next time mine goes out Im going to find a way to shoe horn the same alternator that's on my 1999 F150 into my F250 superduty. The regulator is replaceable without replacing the alternator and the thing puts out to much voltage when it ages more than to little and killer volts/amps at idle...

If its not charging at idle and your idle is correct the alternator is bad.

Should show 13volts or higher at idle. 12.1 is battery voltage only no alternator output.

Hids have really worked great for me. Ive had my retrosolution hids for quite a few years now and they have been super reliable. I like the led concept just not in headlights. I use leds in all other lighting though.

Just remember led bulbs don't make forward facing heat. Only the back side gets hot on them. So snow, ice, etc will not melt away from the headlights so you have to pull over and clear your headlights from time to time. Not good in my opinion.
