so i had the same MPG symptoms as you described. I also noticed a lot more smoke on acceleration. so I did some looking online and saw a lot of other 6.4 owners describing similar stuff and attributing it to the EBP sensor.
I had my mechanic just replace it as it was cheap and no more smoke and...
did you check your EBS sensor? i had mine replaced and i noticed better mileage, less smoke and more power. here is youtube vid about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_41i7ZM1ME4
yeah i kinda lucked out on this one, but i do still smell the faint smell of oil when i get out of the truck. so i'm sure it's only a matter of time till those turbos have issues.
yeah i assumed the single turbo was the best option when the stockers let go. but i guess the road manners aren't...
i wanted to update this thread with the results, (as i know many guys dont bother once the issue is fixed.) i brought the truck to the dealer and they were zero help. did my own research on this site and found alot of guys had mixed issues related to the EBP sensor. youtube had some vids about...
sounds like good advice. i appreciate it very much. I will take your advice and brnig the truck in to be fully diagnosed too. in the event the turbos do need to be pulled and/or replaced, would you advise to simply replace them with OEM equipment?
i have an '09, 6.4 wiht 140k on it and it's showing 3 codes on my Minimax, all 3 are turbo related. it was at the dealer a few months back (for an unrelated issue) and the diesel tech said there was "moisture" around the turbos but no obvious issue. So i'm thinking the turbo seals are starting...
Could it be a leak somewhere in the intake tube? sounds like air getting sucked in. i'd first make sure all the clamps are tight and no obvious leaks on the new intake tube. i'm sure someone smarter than me will chime in soon who's had the same or similar isues. good luck
i only have the single alternator but had heard the same stories about aftermarket alternators causing the bettery light to stay on. I had my mechanic install a NAPA unit adn have had no battery light and no issues at all with it for many years now.
i just added a Viper Alarm with the auto-start feature to my '09, i was getting nervous as my '06 superduty was stolen. i think this Viper has a mile range and works really well. i had it installed at a local shop. it was around $600 for everything. the key fob I opted for is pretty simple, just...
i wasn't super impressed with the tread life....but to be honest i am not religious about rotating them, so i'm partly to blame. They were very good in the snow last year as far as traction and very quiet but that's compared to the Nitto Trail Grapplers and Toyos I've run in the past. I feel...
So i got new tires and these are the old ones. None have any plugs or anyting wrong with them. My mechanic said 2 will pass Pennsylvania inspection but the other two are questionable. I don't know if anyone needs them. i have a loading dock at work so i can put them on a pallet and ship them...
thanks a lot! i was standing there with my buddy scratching our heads on this one for a while! really had no idea what or where the noise was coming from. i'll let you know how the fix goes. thanks again!
