so a nozzle that say has a .005 size hole, with 30% would be .0065? and 80% would be .009? if that's what I'm hearing? -

netrual start switch wiring
I've got a 96 with manual transmission, and can't find a wiring diagram for the natural start switch. I need to know witch two wires are for the start or if someone has a wiring diagram, that would be great also. Thanks for the help.- oldschool

any issues with the solid drive line. that's a long way back from the transfercase to the pinion.!! Mines in a crew cab.- oldschool

your right, the pressed in they didn't. And splines shouldn't cause it, so I guess it's down to the tubes? I was just thinking with a carrier bearing, and splines, could get to working against each other. Really doesn't feel like a u-joint vibration. It's a lot more intense. More I get...- oldschool

No, just the rear one, the pulled the caps of the others and said they were fine. Been fighting this for a while, that's why I'm leaning towards splines or loose splines.- oldschool

just had tires rotated and balanced, pinion bearings were just replaced, splines were just greased. guess i'll try the balance. thanks- oldschool

I've got a 96 f350 crew cab that has a vibration between 75 and 80. I think it's the drive line slip splines. It has about 1/16" play in the splines. Had it to the driveline shop, they found a bad u-joint and said that was the problem. They said the spline wear was not excessive, but, still...- oldschool

Best startup and break in procedure for the 7.3?
find a trailer loaded heavy, find some hills. Once it's warmed up, levels checked, drive it like ya don't have a dime in it. I've inframed engines in the field on big iron. We'd get them running, check levels, and put them to work. change oil after the first shift, do oil samples and forget... -

Blue smoke on cold start...
even though it looks blue, still could be fuel, especially if it smells like fuel, raw unburned fuel. Cold engine, cold outside temps = white, blueish smoke. It's a diesel, takes heat for complete burn.- oldschool

Good all around shop welder suggestions
I grew up welding stick. After my first wire feed weld, never looked back. You get better looking welds with wire, a lot more control, and vertical welds are a breeze. If you need to weld outside, use flux core wire. I still have a stick welder also, for the times I need to weld dirty with...- oldschool

6.4 glow plug delete?
check some of the older Cat engines with natural gas application, like a 353, 398, 379, I'm pretty sure they had plugs in the precups, and from what I can remember, they are about the same size as the powerstroke glow plugs.- oldschool

no problem, was a good thought though, plus the hole runs down hill when the engine is installed. -

that's what I'm lean towards is bad casting. The new one I got is a little beefier in that area and the thread is a blind hole. I'm thinking the crack started at the area on top where the threads come out. I didn't know about the two years having problems though. good to know. So any latter... -

dont think so, the top bolt hole goes all the way through. and everything was hand tightened. the new cover in that area is a lot heavier and the bolt hole is blind. I i think is was seeping before the cooler re-seal. there was some accumulation of coolant when it was cold, thought that it... -

How to turn your EBPV into an exhaust brake
the only problem I see is the possibility of starving the turbo for oil when the bpv is activated. Talked to beans about this when I put on the D66 from them, and he said that they had some problems from truck in montana burning out the turbo bearings. They quite using the bpv as an exhaust...
