Oil leak in the turbo area? Need some help
the seal is held against the bore by spring tension, on the side of the housing that the shaft goes through. The seal seals around that hole in the bore that the shaft goes through. There is a drain passage in that end of the bore so if the seal that actuates the piston leaks, it should just... -

on the bottom picture, the washer/seal is up agains the housing where the rod comes out. that's what seals the area along with the boot in the upper picture. that washer/seal/boot is one part -

have mine on the bench right now, and just looked. If you look at the picture above, where the rod is threaded, there is a cone looking peice. thats a rubber boot, and the washer has a seal built into it. -

The rod does have a seal around it, looks like a boot, and the washer behind the spring also has a seal, otherwise dirt could alos get into the crankcase. If there is ccv vapors coming out of the rod area, then the boot is leaking and possible letting contamination into the oil... -

back pressure valve
Is that just the pickup, or with a trailer also? I have a trailer tied onto mine most of the time, and have to do brakes about every 18 months. was just woundering if using it as an exhaust brake would help extend the brake life? Thanks for the input guys.- oldschool

back pressure valve
working on installing a 38r and am debating on the backpressure valve. either deleat it or us it as an exhaust brake. Anyone have it set up as a brake and is it worth the trouble?- oldschool

Cold Start smoke. . .
how cold is the temp? the colder, the worse it'll smoke and rattle till it gets warm. Make sure the block heater is working also. -

A decent flow turbo is where i want to start, and am looking for advice on which turbo. I can live with slow spool, if I can keep the temps down on a long pull. Thats why the D66 caught my eye. I don't think a pickup would be heavy enough for an 8 71 thans alot of motor transmission issues, frame strength, suspension, use to run them hauling gravel with a 40 ft belly dump.- oldschool

I need some AC help...
could be moisture as stated eairler. Also if you have too much in the system could also cause problems. Gotta let the liquid turn to vapor then back again in order to work. If ya got pressure, compressor should be ok. did you compare the high side and low side? Most ac systems will cool the cab...
